I live in the city of Beech Grove in Indiana. At first it does not seem like much, especially in the spot that I live, but there are little gems sprinkled throughout. When leaving my home, I cut across the street and imminently hit with the smell of fast-food Mexican and the sounds of children. There is Taco Bell, a bank, and daycare right next to the trail. The Franciscan trail is quiet with no vehicle traffic in this particular area. There are bridges and trees that must be passed and the first building you come upon is the town middle school. Going just a little further you hit one of my favorite places in the city and that is Don Challis Park. it is not a very large park and nothing in particular is special about it, however it is never overcrowded and the town citizens who bring their children are always polite and friends. My daughter is frequently the youngest child there and the older kids always play with her. Laughter is heard, children are playing, there is lots of space to roam and easy clean equipment to play on.
