1. How do you use this space?
I use this space to help clear my mind and stay healthy. Recent breast cancer patient.
The wife and I take walks on the trail to help with weight loss and cardio .
Walking and running
I walk the trail to help with exercise with my dog as he is older and the park is a great place to let my daughter burn energy or socialize.
I love walking on the trail with my granddaughter. I love seeing the through her eyes. I love the nature and habitats on the trail. It’s getting back to nature in the city. I love seeing he changes through all of the seasons.
We have a toddler and often walk to Don Challis Park to play! We also use the trail frequently to walk to my mother's house or ride our bikes to sweet scoop
2. What did you do before you used this space?
I used to walk my neighborhood or gym.
We didn’t walk as much as we didn’t have a trail available to us to use .
Neighborhood sidewalks
I have lived here less than a year, but before discovering it we just drove to places that had space.
I would walk all over Beech Grove but I was getting bored with the scenery. The sidewalks would run out and get very uneven and you would have to walk in the street. Very unsafe.
Don Challis park has been there since I was little. I remember playing on it as a kid. When we didn't have the trail we would often use just the sidewalks on 9th Ave and the surrounding neighborhoods.
3. Do you know any interesting history surrounding this space?
I do not know the full history.
I do not know the history of it as we have only lived here for 6 months .

All I know is that it has something to do with a hospital.
No I didn’t even know that there was this much space back there for a trail!

4. What is your favorite part of this space?
My favorite part is crossing each bridge knowing you are a few steps closer to your walking goal.
The bridge that runs through our backyard . It’s a great view from our house .
The ability to feel like you are in nature instead of the city.
It’s Nice Having a park so close to take the dog or my daughter to.
My favorite part of the trail is that you can do a short walk or a long walk. The only bad side is the second half of it I don’t like how it ends right now. You either have to walk in a neighborhood or on Emerson and you lose the tranquility you got on the trail.
Having the walking trail is one of the best perks of living in BG. We don't have to worry about any traffic while we're on the trail (besides crossing over 9th Ave). And what we're most excited for is the expansion! We plan on being Grover's until our daughter graduates HS and having the trail connect to the HS is going to be so convenient!
5. Would you encourage others to use this space and why?
I would definitely encourage others to use the trail. It’s a peace of mind and a balance of maintaining a healthy life style.
Definitely would encourage others to use this space , it’s a beautiful walk and you get to meet others while walking or biking.
Absolutely!!!!! The trail is beautiful, safe, a great space for physical and mental health.
Yes, it is an incredibly nice area and a great way to get outside in the city.
Yes I tell everyone about the trail. It’s a way to get back to nature. I love how it changes your walk every season! I feel safe on the trail too!
We are ALWAYS bragging about the walking trail and recommend family/friends to drive to Don Challis try it out. It's such a peaceful walk thru the heart of BG.
