This month we talked with students about Self-Regulation. Self-Regulation refers to the ability to monitor our own emotions, thoughts, and related behaviors. With practice and awareness, we are able to build strong connections to the things we love and the people we want to share it with. Enjoy!
This month we talked with students about Honoring Others. Honor Others refers to the ability to accept, appreciate, and include everyone for their differences and abilities. With social awareness, we can identify are strengths and weaknesses and work together to build a safe, encouraging, and kind community.
For the past two months, we talked with students about Differentiated Abilities. We focused on how differences can help each of us understand, empathize, and grow the capacity to lift each other up. We discussed ADHD, Autism, Epilepsy, Intellectual Abilities, Cerebral Palsy, Anxiety, and Dyslexia.
Resolving conflicts is difficult; sometimes we do not know where to start. Our Turtle Rock Counseling started this year by meeting with our students to discuss the topic of Conflict Resolution and Identifying Trusted Adults. In our lessons, we discussed how to identify the Size of the Problem, using Assertive Language and Self-Advocacy, defining "Trusted Adult" and identifying who that would be at home and in school. Please enjoy our nominated student's responses to this month's schoolwide initiative: Navigating Conflicts!
