about me

Hello fellow Grizzlies!! My name is Ashley Hamilton and I am so excited to be returning to Portola Springs! I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Cal State Fullerton and my Master of Arts in Education in School Counseling along with my Pupil Personnel Services Credential from Azusa Pacific University. I have spent the last 17 years working in education in Placentia Yorba Linda School District while earning my degrees. I started out in after school care where I worked at a K-8 school and then became director of the after school program at a K-6th grade school. Once I completed my education I went onto the high school level and was a college and career counselor. After several years in that position, I realized that my heart was truly in social emotional counseling and early intervention. I am so blessed to now work in a district that truly values social-emotional learning and support for our students!

I live in Yorba Linda with my husband and two daughters who will be starting Kindergarten and 3rd grade this year! I’m a huge animal lover and hope to one day have a farm, but for now my two dogs, Leo and Skyler, will have to do. I love taking them on walks every day to decompress and on the weekends love to find new hiking trails to explore.

I very much look forward to building connections with our students, staff and parents!

Recommended books for parents:

The Whole- Brain Child by Daniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson

&

No-Drama Discipline by Daniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson

Both of these books are helpful in both my personal and work life. The books focus on the child's brain development and the way parents react to misbehavior. It's fascinating yet a simple read.
