Students are responsible for bringing their school-issued Chromebook or personal laptop/device fully charged to school, every day. Northwood High School is a 1:1 Hybrid Bring Your Own Device school. All NHS students are able to check out a Chromebooks from the library for their NHS school career. Students must have a NHS ID card present to check out a Chromebook.
Parents have the option to purchase a $20 warranty/insurance from IUSD to cover accidental damage and theft. This is a one-time fee for the school year to cover potential incidents like cracked screens, missing keyboard keys, damaged plastics, liquid spills, and theft.
Chromebook insurance does not cover lost devices or lost chargers.
Without insurance, typical repair costs for things like a broken screen or keyboard can range from $30-$75. For excessive damage, our Chromebooks have a total replacement cost of $225.

We will exchange your damaged or lost device for a working one to minimize any disruption to your learning. Payments for lost or damage devices will be completed online through MySchoolBucks.com For more information on paying fines please see this article"Online Payment For Fines" Once the device has been brought in as damaged or reported as lost, IUSD staff will dteremine whether repairs or a replacement of the device is required. The cost of the repair or lost charger will be assessed as a fine to the student's record in Destiny.
Students are responsible for the general care of the Chromebook they have been issued by the school.
When bringing the Chromebook back and forth to school, make sure the screen is closed.
Please transport the Chromebook in a padded bag or backpack, and do not store liquids in the same bag or backpack as the Chromebook.
Avoid spills - No food or beverages should be near your Chromebook
Chromebooks should not be exposed to extreme temperature (hot or cold)
Chromebooks should not be left unattended
Chromebooks will be labeled with a barcode. Students should not remove the barcode or serial number label. If the barcode or serial number is falling off, please notify the library.
