The PSAT™ 8/9 is the first test in the SAT® Suite of Assessments that our 9th graders to take as they start their high school journey. The Reading and Writing and Math sections measure the knowledge and skills students are learning in school that matter most for college and career readiness. IUSD 9th graders take the PSAT 8/9.

Using their personalized score report, students can use the AP Potential™ tool to get recommendations about what AP® courses might be a good fit for them.
Based on their scores, your child can search for colleges and explore more than 1,000 occupations that match their interests and skills on BigFuture®.
In fall 2023, the PSAT 8/9 went digital. The test is easier to take, shorter, has more time per question, and comes with a built-in calculator that can be used on the entire math section.
