Coastline Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is an exemplary, innovative career technical education (CTE) program, provider. We prepare students for college and career success and contribute to the economic development of the communities we serve. Students may enroll in classes within and across districts to participate in these free programs. Coastline ROP provides classes for students on any academic path.
CULINARY ARTS
The following one-year ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “g” requirement.
Prepare for an entry-level position in the restaurant/food service industry. Learn safety and sanitation, nutrition basics, and food service operations. Instruction includes planning, preparation, cooking and presentation techniques for a wide variety of food.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Learn the basic principles of medical science, terminology, and vocabulary needed to work in the healthcare field. This course focuses on the ethical and legal responsibilities of the health care worker, safety, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, body systems and mechanics, standard precautions, and health & fitness. Explore career opportunities in therapeutic, diagnostic, and supportive areas. Gain practical hands-on experience in vital signs, emergency medical care, first aid, and CPR. This course is a great foundation for all other courses offered in the Health Science and Medical Technology industry sector.

Medical Nursing Careers Internship

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prepare to become a nurse assistant in an acute care or convalescent hospital, or an aide in central service/supply, dietary, EKG, laboratory, pharmacy, physical therapy, cardiopulmonary, radiology or respiratory therapy. Internships will be assigned in the hospital.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Learn the necessary skills to become a certified nurse assistant. Assist patients with basic personal needs such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation. Practice techniques of infection control, measure and record vital signs, and recognize psychosocial needs. After initial classroom instruction, intern at a skilled nursing facility.

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Learn to provide immediate care to an ill or injured person and to assist emergency medical service EMS providers. Completion of this class will provide a strong background useful in lifeguard positions, fire service, sports medicine, ski patrol, medical facilities and in preparation for the EMT course.

The following one-year ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “g” requirement.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prepare for a career as an ambulance attendant or emergency room technician. EMT certification increases opportunity to obtain positions as lifeguards, fire fighters, search and rescue team members or ski patrol. Twenty-four hours of ambulance ride-a-long or ER observation will be arranged. Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT-Basic certification exam.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This class prepares students for an entry-level position in a dental office. Students will learn how to prepare the patient, sterilize and disinfect, setup instrument trays, and prepare materials that will be needed by the dentist during the examination. Students who desire to advance to Dental Assistant Back Office Internship will be required to earn a grade of 85% or higher upon completion of this course.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides advanced training in dental assisting. Students will prepare patients, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist the dentist through participation in an internship. Additionally students will practice theory and clinical applications in dental radiography in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the California Board of Dental Examiners. Radiology certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course. Students completing this program will be qualified to be employed in the dental field or may enroll in higher education for advanced training.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to prepare students for employment in various pharmacy settings. The class consists of seven core module study areas including: medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacy law, metric and apothecary systems, drug requirements, and dispensing prescriptions. During second semester, instruction will include an online component. Upon successful completion of this course, students will qualify for registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
Prerequisite: Must be a high school senior.

Explore career opportunities in fire protection and fire safety for people and property. This class is for the student seriously considering a future career in the fire service as it articulates with Santa Ana College's Fire Technology 101 for 3 college credits. Fire Technology is not required although highly recommended. Class will meet on either Mondays or Tuesdays depending on instructor's fire department work schedule. Do you have an interest in construction and/or architecture? Learn the basic skills required of the construction trades in this hands-on class! The focus of this course is on building design, performance, sustainability and the manner in which residential and commercial structures are designed and built. Students learn industry standard safety habits and procedures, vocabulary, use of hand and power tools, blueprint reading, and measurement and estimating. During simulated builds, students acquire experience working with building materials. Participate in construction competition opportunities during the year.
