About us/Our Focus on Efficiency

About Us!

Hello! We are Aran Mohsenzadeh (right) and Sriram Vaidhyanathan (left). We want to be on the frontlines, helping and developing our society to progress together, one step at a time! We love the amazing world of science as it has endless opportunities and an infinite number of ways to improve an existing idea. For us, we love to tinker with existing models and improve it, as that is what Science, and the Science Fair is all about! We are also avid environmentalists, who care about the future of our planet. Our passion for environmental science came from a project in 4th grade, where we were learning about problems with our ocean, and we even got to go on a field trip to the ocean. Rather than marveling at the beauty of nature, we were shocked to find the ocean completely polluted, which inspired us to create multiple science fair projects to solve the biggest, boldest, and most challenging problems in our planet's history.

Our Focus On Efficiency

Our goal for focusing on efficiency is all about creating designs that are eco-friendly towards our planet. That is why we use a solar panel to generate electricity for our water generator instead of using costly electric parts such as power strippers, plugs, batteries, and power outlets. Not everyone in this world is fortunate to have electricity and to pay their electricity bills, but one thing everyone does have for half of the day is sunlight! Using the complementary sunlight that we have is how our project gets its electricity from to produce our fresh water. Even if there isn't any sunlight, the solar panel can still run using the sun's energy that was collected earlier. Using alternative sources of power is one way we can use to increase efficiency. Even our school district (IUSD) recognizes this and is using more environmental friendly power sources to operate it's schools! The first step was configuring the parking lots with solar panels. Solar power is a method of efficiency that we believe, is useful in almost every scenario!

Moses West's Marvel of Engineering

Moses West, from Texas, created an ingenious device that changed the landscape of drought saving technology forever. He created a device that could create water from... Thin air! It was a marvel of engineering, it could generate gallons of water in just the span of a few days and helped to quench the thirst of many poverty stricken Texans. As amazing as it was, it had a few flaws. It was an electricity guzzler, bulky, and inefficient for many commercial suppliers.
