Short Description:
It's been nearly 75 years since Adams County’s first public library opened. Although the way we access and use information has completely transformed during that time, our mission remains the same: to provide residents with materials and information services for formal and lifelong learning, enrichment and pleasure. The New Oxford Area Library has been open for almost 30 years to support its community in many ways.
Adams County Library System Mission Statement: We're connecting people to opportunities that enrich their lives! Please remember the ACLS in your will, trust, IRA, life insurance and other assets.
How the Adams County Libraries support STEM Education, Career Readiness, and the FrAY Ecosystem:
The library is here to support and engage the community with events and programs, many based on STEM, that can create resources in and for careers. Connecting people with others, providing access to internet those who don't have connection in their homes (which is still a concern even after many lockdowns due to the pandemic), and more. Summer programs are our biggest success "stories" of programs in STEM that are engaging and full of learning opportunities.
The library can be an outlet for STEM related programs and events. We have the ability to host job fairs, or similar events, and the ability to network through the community to employers, etc.
