Computational Thinking Intro
In this activity you will select 3 resources to engage with to learn about computational thinking. Use the definitions provided in the resources you select to generate your own definition of computational thinking.
Project Tomorrow Podcast
Project Tomorrow has a new Podcast talking about Computational Thinking. This is a great way to begin ot skill- up on CT if you're just starting to explore it's applications to your content. You can access all of the episodes at the link below.
Choose an episode to listen to and reflect on how the guest(s) featured brought CT to their district/institution. Add to the padlet board for your reflection, and so you can see what others are saying.
Computational Thinking in Action: Search Smarter
In this activity, you’ll practice computational thinking using a real-world example by searching for information online. By learning how to refine and structure searches effectively, you’ll apply key CT skills like decomposition (breaking down a problem), pattern recognition (spotting relevant results), abstraction (filtering out unnecessary information), and algorithm design (creating a search strategy).
Steps:
Complete one of the short lessons or videos that help improve how you search online.
Reflect on your experience via this Padlet:
How did you use computational thinking to refine your search?
Which CT concept (decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, or algorithm design) felt most important in your process?
How could you use this approach to help students research more effectively or solve problems online?
