Messiah University Graduate Program in Education

Messiah University’s Graduate Program in Education is designed for practicing educators who want flexibility, relevance and meaningful professional growth. With multiple M.Ed. pathways and non-degree options, the program equips teachers to deepen their expertise, expand their credentials and advance their impact—without stepping away from the classroom.

Students may pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with concentrations in curriculum and instruction, special education, teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), teaching language and content, or online instruction. Program completion timelines vary based on enrollment and pathway, allowing students to progress at a pace that fits their professional and personal commitments. Most graduate education courses are offered online and are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for Act 48 credit.

In addition to degree programs, Messiah offers a range of non-degree graduate certificates and PDE endorsements, including initial teacher certification. Areas of focus include teacher leadership; TESOL; online instruction; special education; STEM education; social, emotional, and behavioral wellness; and English as a second language. Several certificate programs can be completed in less than one year, making them a practical option for educators seeking targeted skill development.
