Goals

When I first applied to this internship, The difference between my goals then and my goals now is my major. At the time, my original major was Radiation Therapy. I originally intended to work at a hospital for that program after graduation. But now my major is Health Sciences. And I want to become a physical therapist. From the start of this semester, my main career goal was to simply find a career to focus on. After some thinking, planning, and influencing, I decided to become a Physical Therapist. My goals as of this moment are to achieve a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences and attend Graduate School. What I really need to do is to become more involved in activities related to the physical therapy field. Also advance in my education towards that type of healthcare field. I still believe networking is very important no matter which career you go into. Right now, I am an intern for physical therapy. I participate in research for manipulation healing tools and also be a test subject for QSTM devices. For now until 2022, I will take classes necessary to achieve my Health Sciences degree. I will also complete this internship for the rest of this school year and attain as much knowledge as possible. I am also considering a job involving physical therapy for my senior year. Although I'm no longer a 21st Century Peer Mentor, teamwork, communication, networking, and mentoring were skills I gained from that experience and I'll carry that with me forever. And with my current job at a warehouse, it taught me an important lesson in initiative. After I graduate in May 2022, I will attend graduate school for 3 years to become a physical therapist. I'm not sure what will happen after 2025, but I'm certainly confident that my future will be bright. After a semester with my internship, I've learned material that I never expected. If only I had a chance to actually have that interaction with patients. Now, there's still more testing to do with certain devices used for healing. And I plan to make the most of it for the rest of the school year. I never thought that I would have the college journey that I have, but I will look back on this experience as a testimony to share with others.

What's Next?

I know as of now, I am certain of my career choice. Being a part of this internship and seeing how the Physical Therapy field operates from an in-person/online point-of-view, it opened my eyes about many forms of healing and many different devices used to help soft tissue. My goals are still the same for the moment, and I feel that being a member of the team has helped me accomplish these goals. Until the end of the semester, it's time to delve into more human subject research and complete training to make the best out of my internship.
