Indiana Immunization Coalition is nonprofit that exist to reduced the spread of vaccine-preventable disease through immunization, education, adcocacy, promotion and collaborative partnerships. Mondays and sometime Saturday are our onsite clinic and during the rest of the week, we traveled to different locations to advocate vaccines inlcude school, hospitals and community centers.
During my internship, I worked both at the office and mobile clinic. My responsibility as a clinical intern is to help with pre-registering. Once I receive the patient registration form, I have to check their insurance status and ensure it goes through. Then I look up their information on CHIRP, print out their vaccination record, write a proof of record, and give it to someone recommending the vaccine. After the patient agrees with the recommended vaccine, give it to the nurse for vaccination. Once the patient has gotten their vaccines, I enter their information to update their record and create an appointment through Vaxcare.
Improved communication skills.
Develop administrative skills.
Understand how vaccines are proccessed and billed correctly.
Gaining hands-on experience with patient intake.
During my internship at the Indiana Immunization Coalition, I developed valuable communication, teamwork, and adaptability skills. I was always flexible to help wherever I was needed, whether in the office or at mobile clinics. I also became more confident in using healthcare systems like CHIRP and VaxCare.
One of the most critical areas of growth for me was communication. I actively interacted with coworkers and patients, which helped me become more confident in speaking English and improved my ability to explain information clearly.
Although my communication skills have improved, I still need to build more confidence when speaking directly with patients, especially in busy or high-pressure situations. I am actively working toward the goal of continuing to develop my professional communication and patient interaction skills.

Course : Healthcare Administration Ethics Seminar
This course helped me prepare to handle sensitive information responsibly. It also helped me understand the importance of patient privacy and informed consent. I became more mindful of how I communicated with patients and respected their privacy and choices.
