Come discuss teaching identities and practices while also connecting with other instructors! For this meeting, we will discuss “issues of self, identity, community, professionalization, and the future of each” (Robinson et al. 2022). Participants are asked to read Part 1 of the book, Teaching as if Learning Matters. We’ll spend thirty minutes discussing what we’ve read and how it informs our teaching practice. In the last thirty minutes, we will talk with authors of the book chapters and get a chance to ask questions, network, and form teaching communities. This is the 1st meeting in a four meeting series. You do not have to attend more than one meeting, but you are welcome to all. Those who plan to attend all four meetings are welcome to a free copy of the book. If you can’t make all four events, you are welcome to register for single events:
Part 1, Exploring our Teaching and our Identities, on October 3rd
Part 2, Experimenting with Classroom Techniques for our Students and our Classrooms, on October 17th
Part 3, Studying our Teaching and Learning Practices in our Fields of Expertise, on October 31st
Part 4, Using our Teaching Experiences for Future Employment, on November 7th.
