Listen To Our Future's Mission
"Equipping youth to make long-lasting changes in their community through education, empowerment, and social action."
Listen To Our Future's Purpose
"Listen to Our Future is a grassroots organization founded in June 2020, inspired by social justice movements and motivated by the effects of COVID-19 on the education system for students in under-resourced communities. Our founders, Lillian Barkes and Brandon Street created a BIPOC-led 501(c)(3) organization to educate youth and allow them to be change-makers in their community. Our programs include afterschool K-6th grade tutoring, intervention and MTSS support, and project-based learning chapters. "
My Position
My internship is a data management position at Listen To Our Future. My position is remote and my responsibilities are to create surveys for students, tutors, school administration, LTOF administration, and teachers. I am also responsible for creating presentations for the official website that represent how well the program works. One presentation I am tasked with creating is a dashboard that displays the company's collected data.

Teamwork
The sites operate pretty smoothly and if there are any issues management is quick to resolve them. The staff that is assigned to sites work well together and get their assigned tasks done quickly and professionally. This is similar to my idea of workplace culture because I want a workplace where everyone gets along and doesn't put their workload onto someone else. The culture is different because my tasks aren't accounting-related so the workplace would be different than the workplace at LTOF.
Teamwork
My tasks require me to work with teammates every Friday and periodically throughout the week with another intern on a project. The project is individual work but the Friday shifts are as a group at James Russell Lowell. Everyone can give their feedback to management whenever they like in the group chat and on surveys management sends out. I do feel like I am a part of the team every Friday when I do my shift.
