Introduction
This artifact highlights my growth as an Honors scholar by examining how my academic, clinical, and leadership experiences shaped my development throughout college. This artifact brings together intention statements, journey mapping, and reflection to demonstrate how my goals have evolved from entry into the Honors College to my final year as a nursing student.
Through comparison of my early intentions with lived experiences, this artifact emphasizes the transition from aspiration to application. These elements display how engaged learning, leadership, and thoughtful analysis contributed to my personal growth and prepared me to enter the field of nursing as a competent and compassionate professional.
H200 Intention Statements
I am a motivated individual with aspirations of making a difference in the world throughout the honors and nursing programs and beyond. I consistently try to put my best foot forward and rebound when facing challenges, while seeing value in the difficulties. I am open-minded and empathetic regarding the viewpoints of others. I find fulfillment in making an impact in the lives of other individuals and contributing to positive change around the globe.
I want to become a citizen who makes an impactful difference in the world in the nursing program, honors program, and in my future professional life.
I hope to go above and beyond with honors projects, research, and extracurriculars as well as studying abroad eventually. This ties into completing my health administration minor so that I will have more insight into the healthcare system as a whole and become a better nurse.
All in all, I would like to connect my past experiences with my future and grow from my education. Although some experiences can be difficult, I strive to always keep in mind that they are growth opportunities.
H496 Intention Statements
I am a soon-to-be nursing graduate shaped by academic rigor, clinical and research experience, insight from abroad, and reflective learning through the Honors College. I have evolved into a resilient, adaptable, and personable leader, allowing for navigation of challenges while maintaining empathy for others. Cumulatively, these experiences have driven me to make an impactful difference in the lives of patients, peers, and neighbors. I am now more confident in my role as a learner and caregiver.
I want to become a nurse and healthcare professional who contributes positively to patient care and healthcare systems. By combining nursing education with healthcare administration knowledge and perspectives from Honors projects, I aim to make informed, compassionate decisions that impact both individuals and communities. I strive for a commitment to leadership, growth, and lifelong learning.
Reflection
When I composed my original H200 intention statements, I was early in my college experience and primarily motivated by a desire to make a difference in my community. These goals were aspirational at that time, as I was still learning how academic challenges, leadership responsibilities, and personal growth intersect in the nursing and Honors programs.
Since then, my experiences have assisted in transforming those aspirations into practiced skills. Through coursework, clinical experience, and Honors projects, I have learned to respond to challenges through reflection and resilience rather than uncertainty. Although my core values of openness, empathy, and impact have remained consistent, I now have a clear understanding of how to apply these in real-world settings. This growth reflects my transition from an incoming Honors student to a soon-to-be graduate prepared to enter the nursing profession.
Journey Map - Introduction
This journey map visually contrasts my original H200 plan with my actual Honors journey. While the first map illustrated aspirations and future intentions, the updated version encompasses lived experiences, leadership roles, clinical growth, study abroad involvement, research contributions, and reflective learning that shaped my path through the Honors College.
By revisiting my original journey map alongside an updated version, this artifact highlights the transition from early aspirations to practiced skills. Together, these elements demonstrate how engaged learning, reflection, and responsibility influenced my evolving goals as I prepare to graduate and enter the nursing profession.

Journey Map - Reflection
When creating the H200 Journey Map, my goals reflected more broad aspirations to make a difference through leadership, involvement, and academic success. At the time, I was motivated to make an impact but had limited experience navigating the realities of nursing education and Honors-level expectations. My plans represented who I hoped to become rather than how I would specifically achieve those goals.
As a soon-to-be-graduate, my goals are now grounded in experience and practice. Through rigorous coursework, diverse clinical placements, leadership roles, and global learning opportunities, I developed confidence, resilience, and strong critical thinking skills. These experiences clarified my professional direction and strengthened my commitment to patient-centered care in complex healthcare environments.
My understanding of leadership also significantly evolved. While my early goals focused on participation, my lived experiences required accountability, mentorship, and service to others. Balancing responsibilities with nursing and Honors organizations allowed me to apply my values in tangible ways while contributing to systems larger than myself.
Although my core values of empathy, openness, and a desire to make an impact remain consistent, my approach to achieving them has matured. This journey reflects my transition from an incoming Honors student with aspirational plans to a graduating Honors scholar prepared to enter the nursing profession with purpose, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
