Projected Graduation: May 2025
Major: Bachelors of Kinesiology
Minor: Mathematics
Career of interest: I plan on pursuing a career in the physical therapy field, and I am starting my graduate program at IU DPT here in Indianapolis. Getting a step closer to my goal is something I’m looking forward to, along with making an impact on my community. I am considering going into neuro or cardiac physical therapy.
Why I chose Kinesiology
My love for sports and movement began at a young age, as I have always been active and fascinated by bodily movement. However, my love for kinesiology truly began when I injured myself during a soccer game in high school. I had torn the ligaments in my ankle (it was bad :/), and it caused me to stop playing soccer for nine weeks. During those weeks, I worked with a physical therapist to regain my strength and get back to the game. As a result, I adopted a clear approach to recovery, incorporating daily exercises and healthy eating habits. Through the recovery process, I felt very connected with the physical therapist I worked with, and it inspired me to learn more about the occupation. As curious as I am, my knowledge grew day by day. Despite the various aspects of kinesiology, I found it to be very enjoyable and worthwhile because it enabled me to implement critical thinking, qualitative research, and problem-solving in my everyday life.
My Skills and Experiences
I am currently a student at IU Indianapolis in the School of Health and Human Sciences. Outside of the classroom, I am involved in several clubs and organizations. Some of them include serving as the President of the Egyptian Student Association (ESA) and as an executive member of the Coptic Jags. I am also heavily involved in volunteer work. I volunteer at Riverview Hospital as a patient transporter, at the Student Outreach Clinic as a front desk personnel, and as a Sunday School instructor for 4th graders. I will be listing more about my experiences and skills in the section below.
The Coptic Club at IU Indianapolis is designed to bring awareness and knowledge to the Coptic Orthodox community in Egypt. The organization is open to all students and often invites special guests to educate others about the 10% of Egyptians who identify as Coptic Orthodox. I am part of the executive team and serve as the club’s reservationist.
Through this role, I have gained strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
University College coordinates existing university resources and develops new initiatives to promote academic excellence and enhance student persistence. As a result, they created the University College Student Council (UCSC). As a member of UCSC, I served as Vice President. I worked directly with other executive members to plan and design various University College events. Additionally, we provided funding and reimbursements for many first-year seminar classes and coordinated opportunities for University College students to engage with one another through social hangouts, movie nights, and game nights. One key skill I developed through UCSC was the ability to plan and execute events effectively for University College students.
The Egyptian Student Association (ESA) at IU Indianapolis is designed to highlight Egyptian culture and its rich history for undergraduate students at IUPUI. I have been a member of ESA for the past two years. During the 2023–2024 academic year, I served as President of the club. Through this role, I developed skills in leadership, communication, cultural competence, and event planning and management.
I volunteer as a patient transporter at Riverview Health in Noblesville. I primarily handle delegated communication with healthcare professionals to ensure patients are safely transported from one destination to another. Through this role, I have developed interpersonal skills, time management, and adaptability.
Children's theraply is a pediatric clinic for children with disabilities. As their intern I assist physical, occupational, and speech therapists in daily clinic management and operations, and work alongside amazing kiddos. One of the unique aspects about this internship is that the therapist use horses as a form of therapy for the kid's needs. One of the biggest daily need is walking around the horse during the therapy session, holding onto the kiddo to stabilize and ensure his/her safety.
At the beginning of 2021 I started a new position at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis as their rehab technician during that time it proved me that I chose the right path for my career. In there I assisted therapists with equipment to effectively mobilize a patient. Also, I monitored patient safety when a therapist needed an extra pair of hands. I learned skills in rehabilitation techniques, patient care, communication, problem-solving, time management, and empathy.
Since I started college I had an opportunity at my local church "St. Mary & St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church" to be a Sunday School instructor. The best part about the experience was developing and constructing lessons through presentations for the kids to learn about the faith. We also, go on many retreats and picnics to enhance the learning experience of the kids learning styles.
GOAL stands for Get Onboard Active Living. The mission of organization is to help young children in one of the local elementary schools in Indianapolis to learn more about nutrition and wellness. Working with children and inform them about the different ways to improve them in health is such an eye opening experience.
The Indiana University Student Outreach Clinic (IU-SOC) is a free clinic that provides primary care based medical, dental, therapeutical, social and legal services for the uninsured and unprivileged community in Indianapolis. At the clinic, my role is the front desk where I help check in people and register them in our system if its their first time coming into the clinic.
At Indiana University’s Camp Brosius, I served as a counselor, leading activities, facilitating team-building exercises, and helping campers develop leadership and teamwork skills. I strengthened my abilities in communication, problem-solving, and group management while creating a supportive and engaging environment for all participants.
As President of the Chess Club, I organized tournaments, led beginner lessons, and created opportunities for players of all skill levels to develop their skills. Through this role, I strengthened my leadership, event planning, and teaching abilities while fostering a supportive and engaging club environment.

I developed leadership, communication, research, data collection, and problem-solving skills while advocating for meaningful change and contributing to yearlong research and improvement projects.
Teamwork Makes what's Impossible to do Alone Possible
One of my biggest strengths is hard work and perseverance. Being able to push through difficult situations and challenging times in my life has helped me develop valuable skills like time management. There are times when I’ve had to balance numerous club events and volunteer work, and on those days, I remind myself that every task I take on is something I enjoy and that it’s helping me reach my goals. As we all know, things don’t always go our way. When that happens to me, I adapt by making quick decisions and solving problems with the limited time I have in order to complete a task.
My strength of perseverance and the skills that come with it are highly transferable to working in a team setting. In order to successfully complete a group task, it’s crucial to stay persistent and manage time well. One experience that taught me a lot about teamwork was playing on a high-intensity soccer team. Every summer, I join an adult soccer league with 22 players. I was chosen as captain last summer, and it was my responsibility to help strategize our formation and tactics. In that leadership role, I had to utilize each player’s strengths to help us win our matches. While we did lose some games, we persevered and ultimately won the tournament. These same skills—resilience, teamwork, and time management—are directly transferable to my internship, where it's essential to push forward after setbacks and ensure tasks and tests are completed accurately and on time.
