We recently conducted a survey among a large group of students who have completed volunteer work. Our goal was to gain a deeper understanding of their motivations and experiences while volunteering. Additionally, we aimed to uncover the reasons behind their support for the nonprofits with which they volunteer. The data collected will provide valuable insights for refining and developing fundraising strategies that align with the interests of this population regarding volunteering and events.
In the first section of our interview, we aimed to understand the types of volunteering that students from IU Indianapolis engage in and identify the most popular activities. According to the chart, healthcare emerged as the most favored response, with over one-third of students indicating this interest. This suggests that many students have experience in healthcare settings and are drawn to this type of work. Exploring potential partnerships or initiatives related to healthcare could help CWWD expand its volunteer base, making it easier to find volunteers for fundraising events that they can rely on for fundraising events.
In the second section of our survey, we focused on incentives and their potential role in attracting volunteers. We first asked respondents whether they had received any incentives while volunteering. Only 27.3% answered "yes." However, when we asked if incentives would influence their volunteering decisions, 70% indicated that they would prefer to receive an incentive while volunteering. This suggests that offering incentives could significantly increase the overall number of volunteers, particularly younger individuals. Implementing such incentives could be a great way to encourage volunteers to return and assist with fundraising events.
Finally, in the last section of our survey, we asked participants about the different types of nonprofit organizations they are familiar with, with a particular focus on healthcare. The purpose of this inquiry was to identify larger organizations that could potentially partner with us to enhance funding and participation within CWWD. We also inquired whether our volunteers have any connections with these organizations. The most common responses we received were Riley Children's Hospital and the American Red Cross. Establishing partnerships with recognized organizations like Riley Children's Hospital and the American Red Cross could enhance efforts to secure funding and boost participation in CWWD initiatives.
