What I Learned
In my computer science classes, I'm learning the basics that I need for my internship. For example, when we learn about organizing data and using spreadsheets, it's just like what I do when I'm helping manage data at my internship. It's like practicing in class so I can do well at my internship and feel confident when I'm faced with similar tasks. My business classes also play a part in my internship. They teach me about the principles of accounting and finance, which is super helpful when I'm assisting with data management in an accounting context during my internship.
I understand the terminology and how business works which gives me a good perspective and helps me communicate with my supervisors better. My teamwork and problem solving skills have applied to my internship with the ability to work well with others and think critically about solving problems. Most of the work I do is later used on for different parts in the company so being able to connect well with my supervisors easily really speeds up the process. With the good team work, I can uncover challenges that need to be over come and I use my problem solving skills for that. For example, discussing ideas to enhance the attendance software used as well as figuring out financials for different programs. This real world experience has allowed me to work better in a team with my studies as well as work better in my business classes as I gained a new perspective of how financials work.
