My name is Natania Dcosta. I am of Bengali and Thai descent. I enjoy watching scary movies and being around family and friends. I love to crochet, knit, paint my nails, and selfcare.
I am currently a nursing major. As of right now I am not in any extracurricular activities but I do plan on participating more further in my college education. I would love to join an organization called ASU at IU indy to make more friends, and any other opportunities that can get me closer to my major.
At the age of 10, I was admitted to the hospital due to a 7 inch tumor on my Kidney. I found out that this tumor made the rest of my body overwork to compensate, which in turn made me go into cardiac arrest. This is what led to the hospital in the first place. I was there for about 2 ½ months and ended up having surgery to remove my tumor. Once I went back to school, my experience at the hospital made me hit a wall. I was struggling to go back to normal. I am okay now but my memory sometimes gets foggy and it's hard for me to remember things.
This leads into why I wanted to come to IU. Since my experience at Riley Children's hospital, I have always wanted to be a nurse, especially since my mom is one and the nurses who took care of me were so nice and kept me company. So I want to become a nurse and give back to a community that helped me when I was having a hard time.
