In the First Year Apprenticeship program I completed various tasks throughout the week in the lab. Graduate lab students usually showed me my way around the lab as well as demonstrated how to complete the tasks given.
This program had taught me so much in such little time in terms of how a lab really works. I learned to maintain lab tasks and continue to learn how to perform new tasks essential to the maintenance of my lab. I did many things in this lab ranging from tasks as simple as washing the dishes or cleaning the tissue culture room to tasks that require more concentration such as autoclaving lab waste, allocating antibodies, and making solutions for the lab. I learned and continue to learn different tasks required for the maitenance of a Research Lab. I think that this lab really gave me the introductory experience I needed to be more involved with Research Labs in upcoming years. I believe that this experience really gave me a jumpstart for future exoeriences in Research Labs I hope to participate in.
Here I autoclave lab waste.
In the experience, I allocate 10 ml of an antibody into labeled centrifuge tubes.
In the experience, I learned to make a diluted solution with a particular recipe as instructed by lab graduate students.
