My ultimate career goal is to earn a degree in public relations so I can start my own PR firm.
My SIP internship is the reason for this set of goals. I discovered how much I missed being creative after working at Listen to Our Future for the past semester. Public relations gives you space to use that creative part of your brain while still being intellectually stimulated.
Being in this environment has greatly altered my perspective on my career decision; therefore, I am confident in this choice. I really value creativity, so it would be ideal for me if I could make it a major part of my work.
I must get my degree in communications, business, or public relations. To demonstrate my work and land a job at an event, I'll need to have a strong e-portfolio. To stay up to date on my work, I would also need a strong social media following.
I intend to pursue my education in public relations first, which will include obtaining a degree in any of the majors stated above. I plan to improve my communication abilities so that I can network effectively. Then, if possible, I'll aim to secure a public relations internship before graduation; if not, I'll do it after. So that I may grow my portfolio and master some more media tools.
My verbal and nonverbal communication abilities are excellent. I also rapidly adjust to new social situations and surroundings. I am very detail-oriented. In a professional context, I have no issues with cooperation and teamwork. I usually approach whatever I do with a creative mindset. Because I support individualism in the workplace, I think it's necessary. People have said that I'm really laid-back and have a cheery personality. Because my position lets me be as creative as I want while editing or creating content, my professional identity complements my internship. However, it pushes me to come up with new ideas and determine what's effective. Knowing my professional identity helps me achieve my career goal since connecting with others in public relations requires excellent communication skills. You should also be prepared to utilize your imagination for every scenario or project that occurs. Understanding what my professional identity is has confirmed my job choice. It's also helped me figure out what jobs or industries I want to pursue later.
I was able to see how people interact and communicate on social media; my internship and my studies are correlated. In order to determine what audience members wanted to see on these platforms, I had the opportunity to explore by using different editing techniques. Furthermore, all of this relates to my field of study, psychology. My academics have helped me with my internship because I was able to understand the audience's behavior. To understand why users interact with some postings and not others, you can apply psychological concepts such as motivation, attention, and reward systems. I learned to manage my time better while working at my internship. I was really struggling to contribute to the work I was doing for Listen to Our Future and schoolwork but I got the hang of it at the end.
