This makes a strong mission statement for my program because it is targeting college students, in the dorm or on the go to eat. Prepped meals entice busy college students. Food=fuel
I want my target audience to take away that this is a health program but also will fit their college lifestyle. This will have less stress on the student of figuring out what to eat, when it is already healthy and prepped ready to go. I want students to feel inclined and want to eat right while in college, not the average “freshman 15” thoughts.
A situational analysis has been conducted to identify what makes your health care product or service unique. The situational analysis portion of this project will focus on the internal and external environment in which the marketing plan will be implemented.
The situational analysis will include three specific areas:
SWOT, a four-cell chart containing internal and external factors of the chosen healthcare organization
Environmental forces, research into university health centers, health services, or programming for university students.
Competitive analysis, an analysis of weaknesses and strengths of the competitors to the selected organization
Students can be affected economically, negatively, with this new health service program “FuelU” by rising grocery costs, inflation. The barrier to entry needs to be overcome to pursue the new health program, Berkowitz (2022). This can affect the university having to raise prices, in which the college student cannot afford the healthy meal plan and revert to the non-healthy choice meal plan. At IU Indy we want to provide the most local grown ingredients, which can cost more, this could also limit the “freshness” of certain produce being out of the country foods, this being the visible value to our customers is highly important.
Regulation consists of the rules placed on companies by federal or state governments, Berkowitz (2022). College students can be regulatory affected with FuelU, by many environmental sources. Every health meal serviced must be properly cleaned and sanitized before sent to the student, which can cause a negative wait for a “grab and go” program. Another restriction; the FuelU must provide dietary substitutions for students with possible food allergies, which can rise costs for those certain meals.
Berkowitz, (2022)
IU Indy's regular meal plan would be considered a competitor to the new FuelU dining option. Students that have used the regular meal plan could be considered to just select that option, before reading about FuelU. IU Indy meal plans for freshman-seniors living on campus with 7 different dining meal passes. IU Indy offers to Ball Hall, North Hall and University Tower students, All-access 7-day meal plan. IU Indy has 127 team members helping serve food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, at Tower Dining, which is very efficient. They also provide Elective meal plans for commuters or Riverwalk apartments. Finding which meal plan works best for the student. They also provide incentives as you refer a friend to get more dining dollars (opportunities). However, a down side of these meal plans are; very expensive, you must use every meal swipe to get your money’s worth, and you must eat in a large populated area.
