Personal Development
During my time at Riverview, one of the skills I have acquired is the skill to manage my time accordingly. Between having to attend meetings and arrange for interviews, avoiding time constraints to dedicate time to other work and projects is highly important in a busy environment. The benefits of networking have continued to open doors for me as a student and as an intern. Advocating for myself and taking the initiative to reach out to other administrators, managers, and directors has helped me gain a better understanding of the business world. Lastly, being able to receive feedback from professionals became valuable. Knowing how I can better prepare for the future will help me excel and grow in future careers.
Academic Connections
Thanks to the courses offered in the HSM program, I was able to get a glimpse of the opportunities that align with my career interests. As a current intern, it has been a pleasant opportunity to be able to reach out to other administrators within the organization and learn more about their current roles, responsibilities, and educational background. Being taught in a classroom setting what different responsibilities we may carry compared to seeing administrators actively in their roles has given me better preparation as an upcoming graduate about to enter the workforce.
