In order to achieve my career goal, I must maintain focused and diligent in my studies. Prioritizing academic prosperity will show that I am a qualified candidate to learn more and be brought into the professional world through internships or apprenticeships. Maintaining a work and school balance is also very important to achieving my career goals. I intend to contact local professionals in the forensic sciences. I will consult my advisors and ask for opportunities to become more involved in the field. Applying for internships and volunteer work will also allow for entry into the professional world.

Currently, I want to complete the first half of my forensic science coursework and begin applying for apprenticeships or internships in my designated career path of forensic anthropology. Additionally, I would like to start making connections with professionals in my designated career.
These are my current goals because they will allow me to begin preparing myself for my career in the professional world. Opportunities will arise as I continue my studies and begin to actively pursue pathways in forensic pathology and anthropology.
I am absolutely certain of my career of choice. I possess an intense passion for the forensic sciences, specifically with a focus in anthropology, as I believe that the career is one of the most honorable and crucial in our society.
My professional identity is best identified through my attention to detail and drive for equity that encompasses the work that I do. I understand that every action I take, both in my professional and personal lives, impact myself and those around me. With that understanding, I value acting with intention and being observant of my impact and place in the world. I have passion for educating myself and my community, wherein actively engaging with different communities and culture is a core aspect. My skills in leadership, problem-solving, and time management allows me to invest my full attention in the work I contribute to and take lessons from it as well. Additionally, I value the accomplishment I can feel through giving work and challenges my best attempts at completion.
My professional identity largely contributes to the efficiency and quality of the work that I do. My value for intentional, well-thought action combined with my drive to do my best, allows for me to complete tasks and tackle challenges with efficiency and appreciation. My passion for always excelling can make team collaboration difficult for me, but as I've completed my internship and engaged in different communities, I have improved on my team-working and team-building skills.
By knowing my professional identity, I can approach my career goals with more confidence and a better understanding of the challenges that await me in the professional world. The more I've developed and begun to understand my professional identity, the more secure I've felt in my career choice and the specific things I want to see at the end of it. I feel more comfortable exploring adjacent fields of study and engaging with other communities that benefit from inter-study understanding. It is my understanding that I will be more successful and my goals will be easier to achieve after my internship, and that I will have a better foundation for my future.
In earnest, most of my academic classes do not connect with my internship work, if any at all. I have learned that the skills I am gaining through my internship work, like problem-solving and team communication skills, will aide me throughout undergrad and in professional spheres. I believe the experience and studying I've done in laboratory settings and in ethics-based courses have the opportunity to correlate to my internship work, but those applications are less streamlined than if I weren't a STEM major.
I entered my internship with a very analytical, focused perspective on how to conduct work. My ability to quickly learn new skills/techniques, approach problems form several angles, and goal to work as efficiently as possible has made my work easier. I am able to handle miscommunications and conflicts between students efficiently and effectively by utilizing my flexibility and analytical skills to determine what the best approach to take is. Additionally, in my office work, I am able to devise plans and execute them swiftly by utilizing my previous knowledge of topics and problem-solving skills.
I have learned a lot in concepts of ethics vs. morals, individual vs. community impact, and strategic thinking. As an aspiring medical student, it is imperative that I learn the impact that my role has in a community and to develop concise, progressive strategies to improve the community through the services I will provide. I've applied this thinking that I use to conduct my school labs or discussion groups to my internship work in the way that I communicate with my coworkers and plan activities for the kids.
My internship helps me with my academics by opening me up to new skill-sets that I previously have never used before. By becoming more sociable and less introverted, as well as less stubborn about doing things my way, I believe that I am better equipped to enter the professional world and finish my studies as a well-rounded medical student. Having attributes as both an analyst and an emotional thinker will allow me to interact with my study material in new ways, as well as my peers, which will make learning easier.
