I originally began my college journey as a nursing major, inspired by my own experiences growing up with health challenges and spending a lot of time as a patient. Those moments left a lasting impact on me. I saw firsthand through my childhood experiences the difference that organized, compassionate, and thoughtful healthcare can make for patients and their families. I knew early on that I wanted to be part of making that kind of difference in other patients' and their families' lives.
After starting college as a nursing major and working as a CNA in long-term care during COVID, I soon realized that the clinical side of healthcare wasn’t the right fit for me. I still cared deeply about improving healthcare, but I wanted to do it in a way that allowed me to shape the systems behind the scenes. That’s what led me to major in Health Services Management. This major allows me the opportunity to combine my passion for patient-centered care with my other interests, like leadership and finance. While it's not healthcare at the bedside, I can still contribute to better healthcare experiences by helping ensure that patients receive efficient, compassionate, and effective care.
