Career Goals

I have very recently decided that I am going to pursue a doctorate of nutrition and dietetics program at IU. I would probably become a registered dietition as well as do research. This is my goal because I understand the importance of nutrition in relation to health as well as the lack of education and access to nutrious foods for a significant population. I am pretty sure of this career option and I am taking nutrition classes and talking to different people at my internship about their profession and experiences so I can be exposed to as many different healthcare roles as possible.

For the rest of my time at IUPUI I plan on getting a job that is in the medical field, whereas my current job is not. As for internships I will do one my final semester that has to do more with my field of interest, which is nutrition.

I have always been interested in nutrition, but my internship has really shown me the value, need, and purpose of registered dietitian’s. I now have a greater understanding of not only what a nutrition really does, but also how they are able to help different populations combat food insecurity. They do more than make meal plans for wealthy people who can afford them. They can actually help people who are facing food insecurity through education.

I am confident in my self-knowledge and preferences when making career related decisions because I try and figure out what I actually want to do rather than what id the more prestigious or higher pay role job. I try and think what I am going to be passionate about doing everyday.
