A little over a year ago my community, Whiteland Indiana got hit with a tornado that changed many lives. It destroyed many homes and as it didn't affect my home personally it affected many in my town. I was able to go to the areas that received the worst damage.
This is a picture that I took while cleaning.
I was able to help along side of my Volleyball teammates. We did this in hopes to help the people were were directly affected by the damages caused. I didn't have any expectations going in, but I definitely knew it wasn't going to be an easy task. This was challenging not only physically with how heavy some of the stuff was, but it really was heartbreaking seeing the town that was once all put together, completely destroyed.
This was something that I will never forget. It was such a devastating time and to see my community to come together to help each other, in that moment any and all of our differences and disagreements were gone and we were one. We were cleaning up what used to be an auto shop and we got to see the people who owned the place and they brought us food from Chic-Fil-A, this food was donated by Chic-Fil-A themselves. Seeing that everyone around cared and everyone around really had others in mind was something that changed my view on life completely. It was truly a blessing getting the chance to go out and help.
