I decided on IU Indianapolis because I absolutely loved the campus. It wasn't too far away from home, but was far enough to have independence. My goals for college are to obtain my BSN and to become an RN in the NICU.
A 7th grade assignment is what led me to want to purse a career in the NICU. I had to create a presentation over a career I was interested in and didn't know what to choose at first. That was until I learned about the NICU.
I am Amanda. I am 18 years old and a freshman here at Indiana University Indianapolis. I am from Evansville, Indiana. I love making new friends and am open to learning new things. A few of the skills that I have include:
patient
empathetic
dependable
My major is nursing and in my free time, I like to listen to music, hangout with my friends/family, and go on late-night drives.
One big factor that has shaped me as a person is when I was in middle school. In 7th grade is when I first learned about the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and knew that was the career I wanted to pursue.
Another big factor that has helped me to be the person I am today is when I was a freshman in high school. During my freshman year, my biology teacher; Mr. Wagner, was there for me through any struggle that I had, and would stay after class multiple days if I was confused on an assignment or subject. This has had a positive impact on my life, because no matter how much I feel like giving up, there are people who are here to support me and want to help.
