I assessed the constraints present for AJ by observing his responses to different activities and adjusting my approach accordingly. If an exercise proved too challenging, I modified the task to better suit his abilities while maintaining its core objectives. When behaviors became obstacles, I used encouragement, clear communication, and boundary-setting to redirect his focus. Throughout the sessions, I consistently evaluated what worked well and made adjustments to ensure AJ could thrive in an environment tailored to his strengths and challenges. These modifications allowed me to balance structure with flexibility, creating meaningful and effective sessions for AJ’s development.
This task involved AJ performing lat pulldowns with correct form and technique. This exercise required maintaining proper posture and controlled movement, which was challenging for AJ due to his impulsivity and need for consistent guidance.
To help AJ succeed, I provided hands-on support, guiding his movements to ensure proper form and safety. I used verbal cues and demonstrated the motion beforehand, allowing AJ to visually understand the task. This hands-on approach helped him stay focused, reinforced correct technique, and boosted his confidence during the exercise.

The environment in the gym was busy and filled with potential distractions that could impact AJ's ability to focus on the warm-up activities.
To address this, we moved to a quieter area of the gym, minimizing external stimuli and creating a more controlled setting. This change allowed AJ to better maintain his focus on me and the warm-up exercises, fostering a more productive and engaging session.
The image shows AJ actively copying my movements during our warm-up routine. By moving to a quieter area, he is fully engaged and focused, demonstrating how modifying the environment helped minimize distractions and enhance his concentration on the task. This moment highlights his attentiveness and willingness to follow along.
AJ often had difficulty understanding and following multi-step instructions, which led to confusion and hesitation during certain tasks.
To support AJ, I used visual aids, step-by-step demonstrations, and clear, simple instructions to guide him through each activity. Breaking down tasks into smaller, manageable steps and repeating instructions as needed helped him grasp and perform the exercises correctly. Additionally, I provided immediate feedback and encouragement to reinforce each step, ensuring AJ felt supported and confident in his ability to succeed. This approach minimized confusion and improved his overall engagement and performance.
The four-square step assessment took some time for AJ to fully grasp, so we worked through multiple trial runs together, moving slowly to ensure he understood each step. Although the assessment didn’t go exactly as planned, we had fun working through it, turning the challenge into an enjoyable learning experience.
