Hello volunteer Drivers! Thank you for joining us in our Deepavali Drive & Distribution! Here's a guide on how you will be helping us on the distribution day.
Designated worksite: Drive the food to a designated location. This will be a worksite where migrant workers are waiting for delivery.
Things to note:
Volunteers should not participate if unwell.
This is a rain or shine event. The distribution will take place regardless of the weather conditions.
You're welcome to dress up your cars and wear festive Indian attire! It's completely optional, but we'd love to see your creativity!
You are encouraged to take photos of the distribution in action 📷 and share them in the group chat!
To help the volunteers identify your vehicle and hand over the food items efficiently, use a simple sheet of paper with large, clear letters and include the following details:
Car Number (as per the WhatsApp list)
Items to be Distributed
Location
Name
Note that only cars will be assigned to designated locations. We have set up staggered collection times for the cars, so please arrive at the time indicated in your signup sheet.
As you enter Arcadia Road, please slow down and stay to the left. Allow residents' cars to overtake you if needed. Volunteers in IRR yellow T-shirts and safety vests will be there to guide you into the vehicle queue.
There is no need to rush or overtake as our volunteers will be waiting for you. You’ll find us at the dead end of Arcadia Road, where there will be 3 stations. Follow the directions from the road marshal volunteers, and they’ll guide you to the right booth.
Volunteers will hand you the packed food—just roll down your window, collect it, and move on. No need to get out of your car. Volunteers can help load your boot if necessary.
Each car will receive approximately 30 boxes of pizzas OR 90 samosas, so please ensure space in your backseat or boot.
You’ll be informed of what you’ll be distributing. Please identify this to the volunteers at the food station.
If you want to bring extra drinks or sweets, feel free to hand them out to workers you meet on the streets—cleaners, pruners, etc.
Please avoid adding these to the delivery at the designated location, as many others may be delivering there, and not all workers on-site might receive your items. Distributing them elsewhere allows more workers to benefit!
When you arrive, you can hand the food packs over to the supervisor. If the worksite supervisor invites you to help with distribution, feel free to take some photos or stay to assist!
When distributing to workers, please remember to hand out ItsRainingRaincoats' flyers and mention that the food is from IRR. You can also show them the ItsRainingRaincoats Facebook page (they might take a screenshot) and let them know it’s a Deepavali treat. Most workers understand basic English. 😄
The guideline is one pizza for every 3 workers or one samosa per worker. The site supervisor has been informed and will manage the distribution after you hand over the food.
