Hello Drivers and Riders! Thank you for your participation in our Deepavali Festive Drive & Distribute!
You have either chosen to:
1) Please have a banner ready on your car, on a simple sheet of paper and large letters, with the following information:
Car No. (per WhatsApp list)
Items to be distributed
Location
Name
Post the banner on the passenger side bottom of the windshield, so it does not block drivers view. The volunteers handing out food will use it to identify and hand food to you.Ā
2) ONLY CARS will be deployed to designated locations. We are implementing staggered collecting times for the cars, so the timeslot indicated in your signup sheet is your arrival time.Ā
3) When you enter Arcadia Road, please slow down and keep to your left. Residentsā cars may overtake you so please let them do so. Unless you are one of the first few cars, you will most likely encounter a queue. Please join the line of slow moving cars and wait your turn. There will be volunteers wearing IRR Yellow T-shirt with safety vests guiding you to join the queue.Ā Ā
4) Please be patient and join the queue. DO NOT attempt to overtake. If you see waiting cars on Adam Road as you turn in, please drive around for a few minutes and return to the road so as to avoid congestion. We will be there waiting for you, no rush: no need to panic about missing out. š
5) You will see us at the dead end of Arcadia Road! There will be 3 stations. Please take guidance from the road marshall volunteers on duty and they will guide you to the correct booth.Ā
6)Ā It is a Drive-Thru collection. Volunteers will hand out the packed food. Just wind down your window, collect the food and move on. You will not need to alight your car.Ā If need be, volunteers can help load the boot.
7)Ā Each car will collect approx. EITHER 30 boxes pizzas OR 90 samosas. Therefore, please clear your backseat/car boot.š„š„š„š„
You will be informed what you will be handing out. Please identify the same clearly to the volunteers at the food station.Ā
The benchmark is one pizza per 3 workers or one samosa per worker. The supervisor at the designated location has been informed of this. You will need to hand over to the site in charge, and they will manage the food distribution.
8) You will likely be one of many cars delivering food to the specific location.Ā
9) If you want to bring some extra drinks, sweets, etc,Ā you can distribute the items you bring freely to workers you come across on the streets instead - cleaners, pruners, etc. Please do not add on the delivery at the location, since you may be one of many delivering there so other workers won't be able receive your blessings, and it might not serve all the workers on location.Ā
10) When you arrive, you may handover the food packs to the supervisor. Feel free to ask for some photos or stay for distribution if the worksite supervisor has invited you to assist!Ā
11) When you distribute to workers, please let them know it is from ItsRainingRaincoats. Feel free to show them the Facebook page of ItsRainingRaincoats (they may take a screen shot) and tell them itās a Deepavali treat. Almost all workers understand basic English. š„³š„³
12) Take a few pics and post on group chat.Ā š¤©
13) Enjoy the experience and thank you for doing this to spread some cheer to our migrant workers. Things may not work out precisely as planned, please come with a positive mind-set!ļø
14) Volunteers should not participate if unwell.
15) This is a rain or shine event.
16)Ā Feel free to dress up your carsĀ and also dress in festive Indian clothes! You can decorate your cars with flowers, any sustainably sourced or recycled decorationsā»ļø! No pressure to but welcome to!
