FAQs for Driving

Volunteers for Oct 15

Q1. What will Driving Volunteers be doing on Oct 15?
On Oct 15, you will be driving to Arcadia road and pickup up pizzas or samosas and/or other goodies to pass to migrant workers

Q2. Who should I give this food to?
You can do one of two things:
Option 1 - Pick a slot from the list we have release. Please pick one slot only. You must then drop off the food assigned to you to this location only, since they will be waiting for it. In the list we have released only general location, we will pass you the full address soon.
Option 2 - Choose to pickup the food and distribute freely to the workers you come across on road work projects, cleaners, HDB staff - anyone who is a migrant worker.

Q3. Do we hand over the food to the workers or do we distribute one by one? For instance, one slice per worker or one samosa per worker until the food is over?
The benchmark is one pizza per 3 workers or one samosa per worker. If you are choosing to freely hand out, then this applies. If you are delivering to a particular location, the supervisor has been informed of this. You will need to hand over to the site in charge, and they will manage the food distribution. They may also invite you inside to help with distribution at the site, please check with them.

Q4. What do I have to do if I signup for a driving slot?
If you signup to drive to a particular location, this is how it will work:
- Use this link to signup to deliver food to one of the locations we earmark
- A few days before the event, we will pass the exact address and point contact to you
- You will likely be one of many cars delivering food there.
- When you get to site, you may handover the food packs to the the supervisor. Feel free to ask for some photos. Only if they invite you to hand out the food to the workers, you may do so if you wish.

Q5. What if there are no driving slots left?
Please let us know. We will help release more slots

Q6. If I choose to drive around freely, what happens if another car takes the same route as me? Will we duplicate efforts?
There are so many road works and regular cleaning projects on a daily basis. It is highly unlikely that there will be duplications, and workers are always honest to say they have been given already and don’t double dip.

Q7. Can I hand out some of the food to workers I come across instead of going to the slot I picked?
If you have signed up to deliver food to a specified location, please make sure that the whole batch of 30 pizzas or 90 samosas is delivered to that site only. They have been informed in advance and the workers will be waiting eagerly for your delivery.

Q8. How many workers will I be delivering food to? Can I bring some sweets to pass on too?
Yes please! Feel free to bring mithai, clothes, chocolates or cold drinks to hand out.
If you have chosen to deliver to a specific location, you can distribute the items you bring freely to workers you come across on the streets instead - cleaners, pruners, etc. Dont tack it on the the delivery at the location, since you may be one of many delivering there, and it might not serve all the workers on location.
If you are distributing freely anyways, feel free to tack on your items to the pizzas/samosas.

Please do not post any pics on social media unless it shows workers wearing masks and respecting social distancing guidelines. Please always follow all social distancing guidelines yourselves. Thank you.
