IFIP TC5 Working Group 5.12
On behalf of IFIP President Anthony Wong and the broader IFIP community, General Secretary, Anatolii Marushchak presented a trophy to Mike Hinchey in recognition of his services as IFIP President from 2016 – 2022.

ACS (Australian Computer Society) has announced four Honorary Life Members (HLMs) and 18 Fellows for 2023. Dr Rod Dilnutt, Professor Michael Johnson, Dr Ian Oppermann and Arnold Wong have been named Honorary Life Members for their contributions to the work of the ACS.
The Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ) recently joined forces with IFIP IP3 and ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7/WG20 for a workshop to discuss efforts towards an International Standard for Advanced IT Professionals. The event was staged during IPSJ’s 86th National Convention, which took place from 15-17 March 2024 at Kanagawa University.
Intelligent autonomous vehicles hold great promise for relieving the tedium of driving while simultaneously reducing the tragic injury and death toll on the roads. However, the headlong rush to be the first to market, without adequate safety and security considerations of life-critical control system design, could cause irreparable public harm and set back the promise of autonomous driving.
IFIP TC3 is delighted to announce that Dr Pieter Hogenbirk, a current member and past chair of IFIP TC3 WG3.1, has been awarded the honour of Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau. The Royal honour was bestowed for his outstanding contribution to innovation in education and for his support in introducing digital technology, STEM and internationalisation at local and national levels.

The Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami struck a large coastal area of the northern part of the main island of Japan, including the coast of the Iwate prefecture, on Friday 11 March 2011. From our experiences in helping part of the affected area by using IT for crisis response and disaster management, we established a Domain Committee on Information Technology in Disaster Risk Reduction (ITDRR) within IFIP in 2016. ITDRR was transformed into a working group within Technical Committee 5, WG5.15, in 2020.
