Through the Secondary Education Program at ISU, I learned how to create lesson plans with competent objectives, to accommodate for all learners, to manage the behaviors of groups of learners, and to monitor their learning progress. I also attained a minor in literature, and received teaching endorsements in English, biology, and social studies.

Master's of Instructional Design and Technology

The Instructional Design and Technology program taught me how to use best practices of the field to build instructional units for productive learning. It also empowered me by teaching me how to use technological tools to create resources for instruction. Lastly, I was pushed to strive for improvement by exploring research in the field that could push learning to its most productive level.

I use a variety of digital tools to build instruction, and I monitor learning both in the moment as well as over time. I make connections with learners and colleagues in my efforts to construct an environment for learning.

As a student supervisor at the Student Rec Center, I scheduled the student facilities staff for their weekly hours. I trained new workers in a variety of procedures, and I monitored their efforts to make sure that important tasks were completed. I tried to make sure that high quality was upheld for the patrons of the Student Rec Center.

My great uncle had Down syndrome, and I had a wonderful experience helping him for several years. While working with him, we would engage in a number of tasks that would exercise his capabilities. We would go out for physical exercise. We would play card games or sort sports cards to practice mental abilities. Finally, We would go on trips around town and complete household tasks to engage in independence.
