This is a unique outdoor facility located on 1905 American Rd, Pocatello, ID 83201. The facility has many capabilities, mainly large-scale testing that cannot be done in the lab. The space provides 3 acres, which allows for much larger testing if needed. The space is graveled and the soil is workable, meaning it can be altered to run different tests, such as: a mock road, or a trench, or culvert, etc. The space is also accompanied by large equipment such as telehandler and backhoe that allows for movement and accommodation of larger specimens. The facility is used for the outdoor component of the Disaster Response Complex that Dr. Mashal and his team are leading at ISU. Furthermore, the facility includes a reinforced concrete pad armored with steel plate for drop testing.
