ME 3320 – Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery (Undergraduate, 3 credits)
Analysis and design of mechanisms used in mechanical systems. Students model planar linkages, determine mobility, and perform position, velocity, and acceleration analyses using graphical, analytical, and computational methods, then apply these tools to linkage synthesis through a term design project.
ME 6699 – Biomechanics for Robotic Rehabilitation (Graduate elective, 3 credits; new course)
Bridges biomechanics and robotic engineering by modeling human movement as a kinematic and dynamic system and applying those principles to rehabilitation robots and assistive devices. Topics include musculoskeletal mechanics, inverse dynamics, and sensorimotor control. Hands-on labs cover motion capture data analysis, Universal Robots UR5e operation with force/torque sensing, and real-time force measurement during physical human–robot interaction.
ME 4425/5525 – Mechatronics (Undergraduate/Graduate, 3 credits)
ME 5599 – Robot Programming and Human–Robot Interaction (new course)
ME 4496 Senior Design Capstone (2026–2027) – Faculty Mentor for two teams
Ice Melt Spreader – A low-cost mobile robot that carries and dispenses ice-melt material on sidewalks and narrow paths that conventional snowplows cannot reach, progressing from basic movement and spreading to remote control and, as an advanced goal, autonomous navigation.
Wall-Climbing Robot – A robot that climbs brick masonry building walls, exploring adhesion strategies such as microspine grippers and propeller-generated thrust, with untethered wireless operation as an advanced goal.
