"Raising for the Dead"

Every year, more than 600,000 people go missing and 4,400 unidentified bodies are recovered. In the U.S. alone, there are over 13,000 unidentified John and Jane Does; at least 100 of those in Idaho. Their remains are buried in unnamed graves, held in evidence lockers, or stored at coroners offices; without names their families are left in between grief and hope with Justice left in waiting. But, bones are patient and they do not lie. "Raising for the Dead" supports ISU resources to identify and bring home the lost and unidentified through forensic anthropology and forensic science case work and training. Donations and gifts directly fund forensic anthropology cases in Idaho by supporting costs for search and recoveries, securing materials and equipment, covering expenses for analyses or skeletal remains, and endorsing student/law enforcement training opportunities in forensic anthropology at ISU (e.g. Forensic Certificate). ISU forensic anthropologists have consulted cost-free for cases in 15 counties and in 8 other states, allowing student participation in forensic casework in the field and lab and using technologies and methods unavailable at other locations in Idaho. We help identify and bring home lost Idahoans to their families and your gift to "Raising for the Dead" directly helps maintain and expand these services to our own community.
