PE with Mr. Nixon

Welcome to Mr. Nixon's Physical Education Page

Fun Facts:

  • Did you know that it is recommended that everyone gets at least 30 minutes of some kind of Physical Activity everyday?

  • As you are at your homes, you may be wondering, "what can I do to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day?"

  • My goal is to provide you with activities that you can do to help you be active each day.

These are some of the examples of activities that are easy and require little to no equipment:

  • Going for a nature walk, in your backyard, or around your neighborhood with you parents

  • Picking up and cleaning around your house

  • Fitnessgram style Pacer sprints in your driveway, backyard or neighborhood. For fun with others or by yourself, what personal record can you get on your practice Pacer, can you beat the school record of 104? How high of a score can you get without stopping or taking breaks? How about with breaks?

  • One minute push ups. How many push ups can you do in a minute? How about with your arms close together? And now arms far apart. Have a sibling, friend or parent watch you, can you do a "Perfect Pushup" arms bent 90 degrees when you go down, back flat, body not touching floor as you go down?

  • One minute curl ups/sit ups. Laying flat on your back can you do a "crunch" or sit up raising your shoulder blades off the floor, without using your arms or hands to help. Can you do 1? Can you beat the school record of 80? Challenge those around you or just challenge yourself to do your best.

  • More exercise challenges to come, as you can see exercising can be very simple and can be done almost anywhere. How much fun you have with it is up to you. Making little games out of the exercises helps to keep it fun and interesting.
