+ It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep you eyes on the music while playing. Resist the temptation to look at your hands. Place your hands over the keys you will be playing before the song starts and don't move them the entire time. When you press down the appropriate finger, it should play the correct note!

+When first playing a song, play at a steady, slow tempo. Gradually speed up as you become more familiar with it.

+If you encounter a difficult part in a song, practice just that measure or small section over and over until you are comfortable with it. Then you can proceed with the rest of the song. Repetition is the key to learning!

Keyboard Musician Contract
As a musician I will:
I will follow all directions immediately and show respect to the teacher at all times.
I will only touch the keyboard with my hands - nothing else!!
I will treat my keyboard with care and respect at all times:
I will completely clear my desk and not take anything out of my desk during keyboard lessons.
If I need a drink I will ask for permission to drink away from the keyboards. I will keep my water bottle on the floor beside my desk.
I understand if I break any of the above expectations, I lose the privilege of playing the keyboard and will learn piano using a laminated keyboard.
