The Concept:
Learning is social. And at ISPP, we feel like we are not social enough with all the other Phnom Penh educational thinkers. We believe that transparency leads to discourse, and educational discourse fuels innovation and change. So, our first purpose for OPEN ISPP is selfish--we want other talented eyes on what we do so we can talk about how to improve. The concept is to keep the day light and informal, just a norma school day at ISPP. This is a free event for everyone.
How do you join the day?
Just show up at the ISPP main gate anytime after 8am, and you will sign in, get a badge and lunch ticket, and then you are free to explore! We will try to meet you at the gate, but depends on when you arrive. We are quite relaxed and open at this event--just wander around and we will find you at some point and check in!
What can you see on Friday?
Almost everything--we are ready for you! Of course, there might be 7th grade advisory session on STDs where there might be a "NO VISITORS THIS BLOCK, PLEASE" sign on the door, but for the most part, you can explore!
Elementary: "The Right Side of ISPP"
Most elementary classes happen in the two main ES buildings Building C and Building D, on the right side when you walk through the gate. Please see Elementary Classroom List for the locations of each grade level and specialist. Of course, different classes will head off to langauges, PE, art, etc, but we hope that you can find enough rooms to see! And don't forget to check out the ISPP Butterfly Garden tucked away behind the C building!
Secondary: And to the left...
Our secondary is 6-12, IBMYP (6-10) and IBDP (11-12). Most secondary classes happen in the A Building (science, language acquisition, Design Labs) and B Building (math, individuals and societies, literature, arts). In addition, Performing Arts classes happen in the Black Box theatre, and PHE classes happen on the top floor above the cafeteria and in the Gyms. Please see the secondary schedule here (apologies, it is not a user friendly document). Basically, on Fridays we run 5x50 minute classes in the morning, and then we have student-directed "Global Citizenship" Projects after lunch. We hope that you can find what you are looking for. After lunch, students are all over campus working on different projects, so you can feel free to wander and talk to the kids.
Parking:
OPEN ISPP begins at 8am, by that time our drop-off is done and there is plenty of parking just outside the gate for cars and motos.
