You should only set work that you would reasonably expect the students to do for 30 minutes of a 45 minute session, or 60 minutes for a double session, focusing on quality more than quantity. Please do not refer to ‘schoolwork’, ‘classwork’, or ‘homework’, as these terms are causing confusion. We only refer to ‘Online/ Home Learning.'

If you are linking to another platform, the link should be in the message, but the content should also be clear about the task, materials or resources.

Student Absence Protocol
If student is not present for a Zoom class:
The teacher should check the Student Status List for any information to explain this absence.
If no information is noted, the teacher should contact reception who will send an email to the family (copying the HRT) to let them know that the student is missing from class.
Reception staff will record the reason for absence on the Student Status List if this is relevant for other classes.
After 2 missed Zoom lessons, the HRT will contact the family to ensure that the student is well and able to access online learning. HRT notes this contact on the Student Engagement Tracker.
If absences continue despite HRT intervention, the HRT will inform the HOG. The HOG will contact the family and log this on the Student Engagement Tracker and CPOMS.
If absences continue, HOGs will inform the VP Wellbeing. The VP Wellbeing will contact the family. Support packages will be looked into and reports/transcripts will be discussed. Email and telephone contact will be made at this stage. All logged on the Student Engagement Tracker and CPOMS.
Persistent disengagement will result in an official written communication to outline the risk/possibility of an incomplete report. An invitation for a zoom meeting/telephone contact with the Principal or Assistant Principal will also be extended. All logged on Student Engagement Tracker and CPOMS.
Guidelines for missed work/check-ins:
For students who have failed to complete their online learning or allocated check in time, please email to make sure they understand the work.
All emails to students should be sent in the spirit of support.
At this time, please do not send automated, generic or blanket emails to students. While things are still uncertain, these types of emails could cause upset and anxiety.
For summative assessments, please use the normal 48 hour extended deadline policy, but with discretion.
Check in regularly with each student via Zoom before noon. This may be in small groups or with the whole class.
Arrange group audio or video check ins via Zoom.
Engage with parent and student requests for information and support.
