Science

Grades K-8

Science class is taught mainly through hands on experimentation.  Students are taught the Scientific Method in all grades.  Students in grades 3 through 8  participate in the Science Fair. 

Biology 

This course deals with relationships among living organisms and their environment.  It covers levels of organization of living organisms namely molecular, cellular and ecological.  Also, emphasis on scientific skills of experimentation, measurement and reporting included. 

Chemistry

This course presents the basic concepts of chemistry and how they relate to the world around us and everyday situations.  Topics covered include atomic theory and structure, elements, compounds, periodicity of the elements, bonding, formula writing, equation balancing, energy changes in chemical equations and the mole concept.  Scientific skills of experimentation, measurement and reporting are emphasized.  A good understanding of solving algebraic equations is required. 

Anatomy and Physiology

Human Anatomy and Physiology is an advanced, high school elective course designed for those students wanting a deeper understanding of the structures and functions of the human body. This class has an option of being a dual credit college course during specific semesters.
