Mr. Cruz is an internationally renowned and multi-awarded Filipino Concert Pianist, Educator, and Artistic Director. He was a prizewinner in the Jose Iturbi (Valencia), the Pilar Bayona (Zaragoza), the Concurs Internacional Maria Canals (Barcelona), and the Jaen International Piano Competitions in Spain, the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition in New York, the Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition in Monza, and the Concorso Internazionale per Pianoforte e Orchestra in Sicily. He also won First Prize in concerto competitions of the Bergen Philharmonic, the Haddonfield Symphony, the Queens Symphony, and in solo competitions of the New York State Music Teachers Association, Five Towns, Great Neck, and Port Washington. He has performed as soloist with major orchestras such as the Nagoya Philharmonic, the Maracaibo Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra of Malaysia, the Orquesta Filharmonica de Gran Canaria, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the State of Oradea, and the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Cuba, among others. As a Mentor, Jovianney has inspired prize-winning students and is often invited to give masterclasses in prestigious music institutions and festivals, most recently in Fondation Bell’Arte’s Paris International Summer Sessions at the Conservatoire Maurice Ravel in Levallois-Perret, France, and at his alma mater the Manhattan School of Music.
Ms. Hung is also an alumni of the Manhattan School of Music (MSM), gaining her Masters in Piano Performance before eventually becoming a Doctor of Musical Arts with the completion of her dissertation on contemporary Taiwanese Composers. Her experiences at MSM led to several awards, including being a finalist in the New York Philharmonic Young Artist competition and first placings in Bloomingdale Concerto Competition, the MSM Concerto Competition, and MSM Best Performance of Chopin. Eventually, she was also awarded a MSM Assistant Fellowship and taught in several other New York studios before eventually coming to the Philippines where has most recently been part of the Manila International Piano Masterclass Festival. She also regularly adjudicates competitions, both here in the Philippines and also for the Hong Kong Schools Music Competition. She has travelled extensively for both solo performances and recitals, including several performances in Spain, France, China and the US.
