Twin Bill Theater traces its roots back to 2012 when twin brothers Francis (pictured left) and Joseph (pictured right) Matheu decided to formalize their partnership and form their own theater company. Both have worked with top theater and event companies in the Philippines for nearly 20 years. Joseph is the technical head of the company and will be the representative at IASAS. He is a theater and live events lighting designer, with credits such as Triumphant Peoples Evangelistic Theatre Society’s (Trumpets) “The Little Mermaid,” Gantimpala Theater’s “Kanser” and Ballet Philippines’ “Romeo and Juliet.” He’s also been the television show “Eat Bulaga’s” resident lighting director since 2007. Forming the company also meant the brothers could specialize in projects they are passionate about. One of their prime interests is bringing theatre to audiences who might not otherwise attend a traditional performance. To make theatre as accessible as possible, they favor staging performances in unconventional spaces. While this is rewarding, it is not without technical challenges. Joseph will be sharing ways in which he uses tech to overcome these and make any space a potential performance venue. The other way in which the brothers aim to attract more people to theatre is through the development a dedicated educational workshop series called “Find Your Light”, which runs both technical and acting workshops.
