About

History

The gender equality was started in the beginning of the 2020 school year in August. It all started when Ms. Moran noticed some issues in her class formulating around gender and she noticed that there was no place to actually communicate about this topic and discuss how serious this topic is. So Ms.Moran decided to take action and started discussing the topic with Ms.Pearcy at the beginning of this school year. They both believed that this service project would be a positive addition to the ISL service variety. Firstly they presented to the year 12 at "Be the change" event at school. The students had a very positive reaction to this service and that is how it was started. Now the service is equally run by teachers and students.

Purpose in greater detail

To go into further detail about the purpose of this service they have diverged into three different groups. One focusing on making people more aware about making people more aware about gender equality and making events for women's day. Another purpose of this service was to make people more aware about street harassment and making people aware about it but also being a support network. Furthermore the last purpose is to get more girls more into STEM subjects and do research about the STEM subjects and jobs and see how many women actually occupy those jobs.

Who we are

The club has a range of members from year 12-13, both boys and girls are involved anyone can join even if they do not need to have any prior involvement in such a topic. If you do find interest in this service project please do contact Ms.Pearcy at kpearcy@isl.ch or Ms. Moran at emoran@isl.ch.
