During this course, you will learn:
*How an aircraft flies.
*How aircraft systems and cockpit instruments work and what they are for.
*How to interpret and use aviation charts, maps, aviation weather reports and forecasts.
*How to read and understand airport markings and airspace classifications.
*Understand the importance of aviation communications.
*How to read and understand federal aviation regulations for Sport Pilots and understand their privileges and limitations.
*How to perform and use weight and balance computations for an aircraft.
*How to perform cross-country flight planning.
*Learn about free aviation applications for your smartphone.
*Learn to fly a free flight simulator on your smartphone and a more detailed one in the classroom.
*Perform practice tests for the Sport Pilot written exam.
*There will be a field trip to the Island airport for a pre-flight inspection of a Light Sport Aircraft.
Note: This course will prepare you for the FAA written exam for a Sport Pilot certificate. Flying an actual aircraft will not be included at this time.
