Counselor Background
Background
I am a school guidance counselor by profession. I earned my Masters in Counseling from Governors State University and became a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor in 2014. I have been a member of the IFS community since 2014 Alhumdulilah. I am a mother of three boys, all of which attend IFS. I love to work at IFS because I have always wanted to work in a school environment that nurtures my mind, spirit, and deen.
Role at IFS: Academic Counselor for MS & HS
In my current role at IFS, I provide academic as well as college/career guidance to middle and high school students and parents.
College and career planning is a major focus for IFS. In the past years, I have conducted parent/student workshops, career guidance through web-based software (Naviance Student), a career fair, and hosted several different colleges and college fairs. I also have been routinely corresponding with parents and students via emails regarding announcements and updates about activities, services, and programs available to all students. In addition, I have an open-door policy for students, parents, and staff to express their concerns via “walk-in” sessions.
