The Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (“ISKME”) collects limited personally identifiable information (“PII”) and non-personally identifiable information in connection with your use of the GoOpen.us website. Scope.

This Privacy Policy covers the treatment of PII and non-personally identifiable information that we obtain when you interact with the GoOpen.us website. PII means individually identifiable information about an individual user collected online by ISKME from that individual and maintained by ISKME in an accessible form, including your first name, last name, and email address. Information You Provide to Us.

When you register for an event, join an email list, take the #GoOpen Pledge or submit any other form, we require that you provide your name and email address.

You may also choose to provide us with optional profile information, such as your state of residence, professional affiliation, website URL, and the like. You are not required to provide us with optional information to use the GoOpen.us website.

When you request assistance through or regarding the GoOpen.us website, you may also provide us with additional information. For example, if you email us requesting a callback, you will provide us with your telephone number.

From time to time, we may contact you regarding a voluntary survey, to help us better tailor the GoOpen.us website to the needs of our users. Such surveys may ask for additional PII or other information from you.

Acquisition. If we become involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of our assets, including bankruptcy, our assets, including Registered User account information and PII, may be transferred to a third party. At that time, your information may become subject to that third-party’s privacy policy.

CA Shine the Light / Your California Privacy Rights. California Civil Code Section 1798.83, known as the “Shine the Light” law, permits our customers who are California residents to request and obtain from us a list of what personal information (if any) we may have disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year, including the names and addresses of those third parties. Requests may be made only once a year and are free of charge. If you would like to make a request pursuant to California Civil Code Section 1798.83, you must do so in writing via email to info@GoOpen.us please include the phrase “Request for California Privacy Information” in the subject line and in the body of your message. We currently do not share any personal information with third parties that are not under our common ownership or common corporate control for their direct marketing purposes.

Student Data and FERPA Compliance.

Student Data. Any student information collected by ISKME is provided by educators on behalf of students, or by students themselves.

FERPA Compliance. If you are a school administrator or teacher in the United States and want your students, who are over age thirteen (13), to use our GoOpen.us website, including in conjunction with registering for events, taking the Pledge or submitting other forms and information for your school or a group of students at your school, you are solely responsible for complying with the U.S. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”). This means you must notify those students’ parents/guardians of the PII you will collect and share with ISKME and obtain parental/guardian consent before your students register, join, share any information, or use our GoOpen.us website. When obtaining such consent, you should provide parents/guardians with a copy of our Terms of Use Agreement. You must keep all consents on file and provide them to us if we request them. Concerns.
