States and Districts: Design your own commitment to the Principles of Open Education, including:

  1. Share new opportunities for open education, along with knowledge and evidence about what works, with all your educators, learners, and families

  2. Emphasize open education in your policies as a means for providing equitable access to high- quality, flexible, low- or no-cost teaching and learning materials

  3. Support practices for educators to adopt and use OER, and which include all your students as beneficiaries, contributors, and co-creators

  4. Offer rigorous and engaging learning experiences that are inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible to all learners, in your ongoing commitment to equity and continuous improvement in education.



Individual Educators, Learners, and Community Members: You can engage in Open Education by:

  1. Adopting OER, or high- quality, adaptable, low- or no-cost teaching and learning materials, and bringing open educational practices to your learning environment

  2. Sharing knowledge and evidence about successes and challenges locally and nationally

  3. Supporting others to adopt OER and open educational practice, including students, and,

  4. Supporting engaging learning experiences that are inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible to all learners, in your ongoing commitment to equity and continuous improvement in education.
